Wolf’s Story

Wolf Valentin came to Goodwill as a referral from Keenan House in the summer of 2023. His original goal as a newly released person from prison was to get a voucher for clothing. That is just the beginning of his relationship with Katie Walden and Pam Bennett, two members of the mission services staff.

Amie’s Story

Amie joined Goodwill Industries of the Berkshires & So. Vermont two and one half years ago.  She describes her employment as a blessing.  After being homeless, she was able to find a place of comfort in the Bennington store and in the community.

Lisa’s Story

Lisa first began at Goodwill in 2005 and what she loves most is getting to meet the customers, learning about the items that they are looking for and experiencing joy as they value their finds.  Lisa shares in their interests- she “loves” shopping.  She also takes joy in changing the music and watching the customers sing and dance.

Walter’s Story

Let’s meet Walter Soucie, a Goodwill truck driver and donations processor.  When you see the big Goodwill truck driving in Berkshire County and Southern Vermont, it might just be Walter behind the wheel. 

Maryam’s Story

In 2013, Maryam joined Goodwill as a volunteer and nine months later she began a seven year journey as the Director of Community Development.  With a belief that all of us will succeed with the help of other individuals, Maryam always does her best in whatever she does. 

Eddie’s Story

Eddie came to work at Goodwill in 2013 as a part time Truck Driver.

It soon became clear to Eddie’s supervisors what a valuable asset to the team he was. From fixing a leaky faucet, to remodeling a store, to building out a sales floor, Eddie can do it all.

Derrick’s Story

This is the story of a man who started his association with Goodwill as a participant in 2012 in the Community Service Corrections Training Program.  Derrick Cameron enjoyed working at Goodwill to gain usable work skills upon his release from prison.

Vaughn’s Story

Vaughn, a man of few words with a big smile, moved to the Berkshires from New York City for a better quality of life. He’s been a Goodwill employee for more than twenty years now, having been hired in 1999. He likes his work and is proud of his job as the primary baler in Goodwill’s Pittsfield warehouse.

Brian’s Story

Brian Maynard came to Goodwill as a participant in the MassHire on-the-job training program. He currently works at the North Adams store.

Jean’s Story

I joined Goodwill in 2009. Since then I have worn many hats, including serving as the organization’s human resources clerk and safety officer. At one point, I wrote all of Goodwill’s newsletters, took minutes at board meetings, posted job announcements, interviewed prospective employees, and kept track of all the paperwork in the human resources office.
