Meet Jean Haywood
I joined Goodwill in 2009. Since then I have worn many hats, including serving as the organization’s human resources clerk and safety officer. At one point, I wrote all of Goodwill’s newsletters, took minutes at board meetings, posted job announcements, interviewed prospective employees, and kept track of all the paperwork in the human resources office.
I still wear many hats, but my primary role these days is as the safety officer, and I love it. I help our supported employees with their monthly safety-oriented tasks like checking water temperatures, fire extinguishers, and first aid boxes. I conduct all of the safety drills at our headquarters on Tyler Street, hold safety meetings and trainings, and keep everyone informed about important safety tips.
I strongly believe in Goodwill’s mission and have always had a genuine interest in helping others. In my free time, I volunteer with various community organizations, including ones that support refugees, help those with anxiety and addiction, and social justice groups. I regularly represent Goodwill at the Chamber of Commerce and other community events.
From an early age, I focused on the power of positive thinking and a belief in the goodness of people. I like to be a shining light in this world.
